Town shares update on re-opening of select municipal facilities

The Town of St. Marys is providing an update on its plans to re-open the Pyramid Recreation Centre, St. Marys Station Gallery and Town Hall.

The municipality is carefully monitoring the rising number of COVID-19 cases and is following all guidelines from the Province of Ontario and Huron Perth Public Health. All re-opening plans are subject to change as necessary to protect the health and safety of residents, visitors and staff.

St. Marys Fire Department welcomes four new recruits

Four new volunteer firefighters have officially joined the ranks of the St. Marys Fire Department. Sarah Black, Ian Edwards, Ryan Hartsell and Matt Smale were added to the team earlier this summer.

Three of the firefighters were hired to fill vacancies left by retirements; the fourth is a new position that was added with the support of Town Council.

Popular fundraisers reimagined for safety during pandemic

Pandemic purging will pay off for two local organizations as the St. Marys’ Volunteer Firefighters’ scrap metal pick-up and the Kinsmen Club of St. Marys’ electronic waste pick-up return on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The Town of St. Marys is advising residents on recent changes to municipal animal control services.

Animal Control

The Stratford Perth Humane Society is now providing animal control services for St. Marys. Residents are encouraged to contact the Humane Society at 519-273-6600 to report:

  • Violations of the Town’s Animal Control By-law
  • A dog running at large
  • A dog bite or aggressive dog
  • A sick or injured dog, cat or small wild animal
  • A lost or found pet
  • A stray dog, cat or small domestic animal
