St. Marys and Zorra Fire Departments join forces for an evening of training

You may notice some action along Queen Street East (in front of Independent Grocery) and Road 120 (near Fawcett Tractor Supply) tomorrow evening as the St. Marys Fire Department and Zorra Fire Department - Uniondale Station conduct a pumper relay and tanker shuttle training.

Training will take place on July 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and is designed to give firefighters practice dealing with areas with limited hydrant service.

Town siren testing July 8 and 9

Please be advised that the Town of St. Marys will be testing the Town Hall siren. Testing will take place Thursday, July 8 and Friday, July 9 between the times of 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The siren will run for a maximum of 30 seconds, approximately three times each day. Town seeking residents’ assistance to help reduce the growth of the gypsy moth

The Town of St. Marys is seeking residents’ assistance to help reduce the proliferation of the gypsy moth within the Town’s urban forest.

Gypsy Moths are a non-native invasive species and are a concern because they feed on the leaves of broadleaf trees, and on some conifers (evergreens). One single gypsy moth caterpillar can eat an average of one square metre of leaves during the larval stage.

“We have received several reports of gypsy moth caterpillars completely defoliating some local trees and shrubs.”...

Cadzow Park Splash Pad will be closed for repairs on Monday, July 5 until 12:00 p.m. It will remain open for regular hours July 2 to 4.  We recommend using the PRC Splash Pad during this time as it will remain open during the Cadzow Park Splash Pad closure.
