St. Marys Fire Department receives grant to purchase much needed firefighting apparel

The St. Marys Volunteer Fire Department has received a grant from Farm Credit Canada (FCC) through its FCC AgriSpirit Fund, allowing them to purchase much needed Wildland Firefighting Coveralls for the entire department.
This year FCC gave $1.5 million through its FCC AgriSpirit Fund to 88 community groups across Canada to support rural capital projects. The St. Marys Fire Department was one of those fortunate recipients.

Town Hall and Public Washroom Closures

Service Disruption
Due to maintenance on the Church Street sidewalks outside of Town Hall, Town Hall and the public washrooms will be closed starting today, Friday, November 26 and will reopen Wednesday, December 1 for regular hours. If immediate service is required, please proceed to the Municipal Operation Centre (408 James Street S., St. Marys).

Traditional Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade returns this weekend!

Don't forget to "save space for Santa" for the parade this Saturday, November 27
Santa makes his traditional parade return to St. Marys this Saturday, November 27 at 7:00 p.m.!
After a year’s absence, the community is asked to “save space for Santa” in the downtown so that those who choose to watch the parade will be able to do so in a socially distanced manner, without the risk of moving and idling vehicles.
Volunteers will begin closing parking stalls on Queen Street between Water and Peel...
Railway crossings to be temporarily closed for necessary maintenance by CN Rail on April 22
CN Rail is requiring the Town to temporarily close three railway crossings to carry out necessary rail repairs. The railway crossings will be closed starting Tuesday, April 22 at 6:00 a.m. The work is scheduled to be completed by Tuesday, April 29 at 5:00 p.m. Required repairs include the replacement of damaged rail and track ties, replacement of track ballast, and installation of planking on railway crossings at the following locations:
- James St. S
- Elgin St. E
- Elizabeth St.
A detour will be set up along Huron St. S. and Elizabeth St., as well as along King St. with signage in place to guide vehicles. Travelers are advised to expect delays during the temporary closure and to plan accordingly.
VIA rail will not be impacted by the temporary closures, but it may cause some delays due to reduced track speeds in the area.

Aquatics Centre to be closed for renovations starting November 11
The Pyramid Recreation Centre pool is undergoing significant upgrades. The Aquatics Centre has been closed to the public since November 11, 2024, to accommodate renovations to the space. The project involves installing a new HVAC unit and exhaust systems to improve air quality. Repairs are also being made to any parts of the Aquatics Centre that have experienced wear and tear.
Due to unexpected construction delays and supply chain issues, the renovation work is now expected to extend the closure until July 2025.
