Town provides update on re-opening plans for outdoor municipal recreational amenities

The Town of St. Marys is providing an update on its plans for re-opening its outdoor recreational amenities as the Province of Ontario eases its COVID-19 restrictions.

To date, the Province has allowed the following outdoor recreational amenities to re-open: public boat launches, outdoor sports facilities and multi-use fields; off-leash dog areas; outdoor picnic sites, benches and shelters.

Emergency child care for eligible workers to be offered in St. Marys starting June 8

On March 22, the Province of Ontario made provisions for certain child care centres to remain open to support health care and other frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Spaces are allocated in order of application and are only available to those on the list of workers eligible for emergency child care who have exhausted all other possibilities for child care. COVID-19 restrictions prevent popular events and reshape others

With summer just around the corner, the Town of St. Marys regrets to announce that some of its beloved events are cancelled until August 31 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The traditional Canada Day picnic at Cadzow Park will not occur due to restrictions on public gatherings, as the celebration typically sees almost 1,000 attendees.

Town making upgrades to local dog park

The St. Marys Dog Park is getting a good grooming. The popular public space has been closed since March due to COVID-19 restrictions, giving the Town an opportunity to make a number of upgrades.

The improvements include placing an additional layer of topsoil on the fenced-in area of the park.
