Matthew Corbett to start in new role on July 24 

The St. Marys Public Library has a new Chief Executive Officer. On Thursday, July 6 the Library Board announced the appointment of Matthew Corbett as CEO of Library Services. Corbett’s new role with the Library will commence on Monday, July 24.

Corbett is currently a Branch Librarian at the Tay Township Public Library. He holds a master’s degree in Library Information Services from Western University and a teaching degree from Laurentian University....

Burnside & Associates Limited (Consultant) have prepared an Individual Environmental Assessment (EA) under the Environmental Assessment Act for the identification and selection of a preferred solid waste disposal option. The Town has reviewed options to manage solid waste over the next 40 years. The preferred alternative is to expand the existing landfill at 1221 Water Street South. Water levels to be lowered at Rice Lake for Wellington Street bridge project

Rice Lake water levels will be lowered for the Wellington Street bridge project. Until further notice, the public should refrain from using boats, kayaks and canoes near the dam.

DisruptionJones St. will be closed from Warner St. to Salina St. and Warner St. will be closed from Queen St. to Elgin St.

Those wishing to visit West Ward Park must park on Salina St. S. and Jones St. W. east of the construction zone. Please walk along the north side of the road on Jones St. to access the park.

Quarry to offer new evening admission discount and drop-in water running program

Visitors have plenty of reasons to return to the St. Marys Quarry this summer (besides the new cliff jump). The Town of St. Marys is offering a “Quarry After 6” promotion that will allow patrons to swim after 6:00 p.m. for only $3. Outdoor exercise enthusiasts can also enjoy a new drop-in water running group exercise class. The class will run Mondays and Wednesdays, July 3 to August 30, from 7:00 to 7:45 p.m. Flotation belts will be provided and the cost to participate is covered by admission.
