Leaf and yard waste to be collected every other Monday starting May 15
The Town of St. Marys is making changes to curbside leaf and yard waste collection. Under the new program, leaf and yard waste will be picked up every other Monday from mid-May to mid-November. Collection dates will also fall on recycling weeks to make it easier for residents to remember the schedule.

Software demonstration will take place at Municipal Operations Centre on Monday, April 10
The Town of St. Marys is joining the Township of Perth South, as well as over 100 other municipalities, in the use of a new bids&tenders web portal that will eventually allow vendors to submit bids completely online. The Town of St. Marys section of the portal can be accessed at https://stmarys.bidsandtenders.ca.

Update: Due to high demand, this seminar has been moved to the St. Marys Friendship Centre (Multi-purpose Room), located at 317 James St S, St. Marys.
Abandoned railway buildings and ways to reincorporate them into the community will be the topic of the next seminar at the St. Marys Museum. Heritage professional Laurence Grant will lead the seminar, which is happening on Thursday, April 20 at 7:00 p.m.

Additional information
Crews will complete annual timing and phasing tests of the traffic lights.
Ontario Provincial Police will be on site directing traffic manually during the test.

New category will celebrate Canada 150
The St. Marys Public Library is inviting writers of all ages to submit poems to its James MacRae Poetry Contest in April. First run in 2013, the contest is named after the pseudonym of John James MacDonald -- a well-known local poet and Library patron who retired in St. Marys in 1875. In previous years, the contest has received hundreds of submissions from local poets of all ages.
