Changes to Stonetown Heritage Festival schedule due to inclement weather

The weather may not be cooperating, but that doesn’t mean that Heritage Festival fun has to end!

The following changes have been made to the event schedule:

Cancelled

• Kids Zone inflatables
• Some Queen/Wellington Street performers including Thomson Martial Arts, the World’s Coolest Musicians, The Yoga Chapple, St. Marys Community Players, St. Marys Filipino Community and Johnny B Acoustic
• Heritage Walking Tours
• Horse and wagon rides at Milt Dunnell Field
• Downtown Vendor Marketplace

Yak Shack temporarily closed due to river conditions

The temporary Yak Shack closure has been extended to Monday, July 17. Those with affected bookings will be contacted directly.

Disruption

Please note that the Yak Shack will be temporarily closed effective immediately and all kayak rental bookings are cancelled until after the 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. morning booking of tomorrow (July 14) due to the conditions of the Thames River from the recent rainfall.

Section of Queen Street East to be closed on July 12

Update (posted July 13, 2023)

The closure of Queen St. E from Brock St. S to Huron St. S has been extended. Crews will be on site on Thursday, July 13 from 8:00 a.m. to approximately 4:00 p.m.

Disruption

Please note that Queen St. E will be closed from Brock St. S to Huron St. S on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. due to construction.

A detour route will be marked from Huron St. S, to Jones St. E, to Brock St. S, to Queen St. E.

Traffic and parking stall closures for Stonetown Heritage Festival

Disruption

Please note that the following roads and parking stalls will be closed on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. due to the Stonetown Heritage Festival:

• Queen St. from Church St. to Thomas St.
• Water St. from Jones St. E to the Water St. N Municipal Parking lot

Vehicular traffic will be limited on the section of Wellington St. between Jones St. to Station St.  

A detour route will be marked out with signage for those needing an alternate route.

Town hosting Municipal Hazardous and Special Waste Event on July 22

The Town of St. Marys is hosting its next Municipal Hazardous and Special Waste Disposal Day on Saturday, July 22, 2023. 

The event will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Municipal Operations Centre (MOC) located at 408 James Street South (enter off South Service Road). It is open to residents of St. Marys and Perth South. 

Items that will be accepted at the disposal event include:

• Acids, aerosol cans (full), antifreeze
• Bases, batteries, bleach
