Residents will have two opportunities to go beyond the walls of Buckingham Palace this month as local author Jean Alice Rowcliffe shares tales of her time as a nanny to the Royal Family.

Rowcliffe’s first speaking engagement is happening on Thursday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium. The event is being hosted by the St. Marys Public Library as part of its Living Library series, in celebration of Ontario Public Library Week.

During the talk, Rowcliffe will be interviewed by library CEO Sarah Andrews. In addition to sharing stories about the Royal Family, Rowcliffe will discuss her book The Last Tear, which explores her personal journey with grief and loss and her tireless work in the St. Marys community.

Tickets for the September 20 event are available for free at the library or at the door. Those interested can contact the library at 519-284-3346 for further details.

Rowcliffe’s second talk is planned for Sunday, October 30 at 2:30 p.m. at the Pyramid Recreation Centre. The event is a fundraiser for the redevelopment and expansion of the Rotary All Wheels Park on James Street, a cause that is especially close the Rowcliffe's heart.

The October 30 event will focus on Rowcliffe’s time as a member of the Queen’s royal household. She will share stories about living at Buckingham and Kensington Palaces and will reflect on her recent trip to London to attend the Queen’s funeral.

Admission for the October 30 talk is by donation to the Rotary All Wheels Park, which can be done online (www.townofstmarys.com/allwheelspark) or at the Pyramid Recreation Centre on the day of the event. Pre-registration is not required.
