The Town of St. Marys Recreation and Leisure Program Guide for spring and summer 2017 is now available at most municipal facilities and www.townofstmarys.com/townguide. The new Guide utilizes a larger format for easier reading and features programs coordinated by municipal staff at various sites including the Pyramid Recreation Centre, St. Marys Child Care Centre, St. Marys Museum and Archives, St. Marys Public Library, Friendship Centre and Quarry.
New offerings include Bubble Soccer (soccer players wear a “bubble suit” while playing the game), Dodgeball Archery (dodgeball, only played with a bow and cushioned-tipped arrows) and Ultimate Frisbee. Senior Kids Klub has been renamed “Camp PRC” and will feature a new format to get participants moving more. Residents can also use their rollerblades and scooters on select dry arena surfaces at the Pyramid Recreation Centre this spring and summer.
Also featured in the Guide are a variety of Friendship Centre and Home Support programs for ages 50 plus. Older adults can relax with painting classes, Friday night campfires, the Genealogy Support Group and meditation. Staying active and healthy is easy with a range of low impact group exercise, yoga and free falls prevention fitness programs available. New workshops such as “MS Getting on Your Nerves?” and “Better Blood Sugar, Better Health”, offer specialized education and exercise opportunities.
The St. Marys Quarry will once again offer stand-up paddle boarding rentals and classes, as well as a new “water running” program. Also new this season is “Quarry After Six”, a promotion that enables visitors to pay $3 admission from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. during the summer months.
