Museum’s popular Seminar Series resumes on March 21

The popular St. Marys Museum Seminar Series resumes its eleventh season this spring with a variety of engaging presentations.

On Thursday, March 21, the Museum will hold a seminar on the history of food preparation and preservation. Janis Fread and Diane O’Shea will explore food trends, cookbooks, and culinary artifacts from the Museum’s collection.

The stories of two notable St. Marys families will be presented on Thursday, April 18. Paul King will share about the Mathieson family, who lived at The Maples in the North Ward. Ken Telfer will discuss the stories of the Carter family, who built a family compound on both Jones and Peel Streets. The presentation will concentrate on their substantial contributions to St. Marys and important events in their lives.

For a special Saturday presentation, local architecture experts Larry Pfaff and Mary Smith will explore the St. Marys buildings of designer-builder Robert Barbour (1822-1898). This morning presentation will take place on Saturday, May 11 and will include a walking tour component, weather permitting.

Thursday evening seminars will take place at 7:00 p.m. The Saturday, May 11 seminar will take place at 9:30 a.m. The seminars are fundraisers for the Museum.
