The municipalities of Stratford, St. Marys, North Perth, West Perth, Perth East and Perth South will host a public launch of their new Community Safety and Well-Being Plan on Wednesday, June 23.

The joint plan has been in development for more than a year. Guided by an advisory committee, that process has included extensive community consultations through surveys, focus groups, and interviews. In May 2021, all six municipalities formally adopted the Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Plan.

Its implementation will be guided by a multi-sectoral Partnership Council. This approach to community safety and well-being recognizes that complex social problems cannot be addressed by the police alone. Local service providers working in areas such as health, mental health and addictions, education, community and social services, and children and youth services play an integral role.

“The CSWB Plan provides a roadmap for the six partner municipalities to work together to support a more inclusive, connected, and coordinated approach to safety and well-being locally,” says Kim McElroy, co-chair of the CSWB Partnership Council. “Moving forward, we will build on existing successful initiatives and also work to address gaps in the system in order to strengthen the responsiveness and supportiveness of the services network.”

The June 23 public launch of the CSWB Plan will be held online through Zoom starting at 9:00 a.m. Those interested in attending can register at https://stratford-ca.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_JirmcE-cSnmEsSV2ZHzcdQ
