Pyramid Centre celebrates a decade with a day of family fun June 2

Country favourites The Wilkinsons headline evening concert

The St. Marys Pyramid Recreation Centre turns 10 years old this year, and the Town of St. Marys invites all residents to join in the celebration.

Saturday, June 2 will be a day to remember at the Pyramid Centre, as a full day of free, family-friendly activities will be offered, including many current favourite programs, a barbecue, and of course, birthday cupcakes.

Come evening, award-winning Canadian country musicians The Wilkinsons will bring down the house with a concert in the Community Centre. Only 300 tickets are available, at a cost of $30 each: they can be purchased online now at www.eventbrite.ca (just search for events in St. Marys) or at the Guest Services Desk at the Pyramid Centre.

“This will be a remarkable party with many exciting activities,” says Director of Community Services Stephanie Ische. “For the first time we’re thrilled to welcome a licensed concert featuring the Wilkinsons. Please join our celebration!”

Featuring lead singer Amanda Wilkinson, brother Tyler, and father Steve, The Wilkinsons achieved success in 1998 with the single 26 Cents, which went number one on the Canadian country charts and top five on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks (now Hot Country Songs).

The trio will perform their greatest hits from their five albums, plus selections from Amanda’s solo career and side project Small Town Pistols, like No More Me & You and Colour Blind.

Originally from Trenton, Ontario, The Wilkinsons have received nine Canadian Country Music Awards, one Juno Award and two Grammy nominations (both for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group).

Opening for The Wilkinsons are Thorn and Roses, a talented regional trio which features uncompromising three part harmonies, unique arrangements of country, classic rock and pop standards, and abundant energy.
