Funds used to purchase a high elevation monitor nozzle
The St. Marys Fire Department has a brand new tool that could make the difference between life and death during an emergency. It’s all thanks to a $5,000 donation from Dowler Karn, which was presented to Fire Chief Richard “Andy” Anderson earlier this month.
The funds from Dowler Karn were used to purchase a high elevation monitor nozzle. A monitor nozzle is a high-capacity water jet used in manual firefighting. It can be aimed and operated by one fire fighter and is equipped to spray both water and foam. This particular model of monitor nozzle is especially helpful when battling blazes in facilities like factories that house highly flammable materials.
“This monitor nozzle is an incredibly valuable tool that will help us serve our community more efficiently and effectively,” said Fire Chief Richard “Andy” Anderson. “We truly appreciate Dowler Karn’s generous contribution.”
The Fire Department accepts any donation from individuals or organizations, no matter the amount. Funds can be sent to the Fire Department at PO Box 998, 172 James St. S, St. Marys, ON N4X 1B6 or by contacting Fire Chief Anderson at 519-284-2340, ext. 201.
