The Town of St. Marys Fire Department's annual breakfast is back! Each year, the firefighters volunteer their time to cook breakfast for the community in order to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy, local sports and other local charities.

This year’s breakfast will take place Sunday, May 5 at the Fire Hall (172 James Street South) between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The cost to attend will be $8 per adult or $5 per child aged five to 12. Children under age five will be able to eat for free. Breakfast will include sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, potatoes, milk, toast, juice, coffee and tea.

The St. Marys Fire Department will also have a table at the event where residents can purchase Open Air Burning Permits for $25. Open Air Burn By-Law 90 of 2017 stipulates that a permit is required for any open fires within the Town of St. Marys.

“The Fire Department breakfast usually draws a thousand hungry citizens every year. In the past, we’ve also seen Members of the Legislative Assembly, town councillors, the mayor, and local business owners attend,” Fire Chief Richard “Andy” Anderson says. “Everyone seems to have a great time. We also hope residents who still need fire permits will take the opportunity to get them after enjoying a delicious meal.”

Questions about the breakfast and Open Air Burning Permits can be directed to the Fire Chief at randerson@town.stmarys.on.ca or 519-284-1752.
