Thanks to the generosity of the owner of 433 Widder Street East, the St. Marys Fire Department has a unique opportunity to take part in some practical, real-world training on the evening of Wednesday, August 11, 2021.
This opportunity provides a more realistic environment for firefighters to be able to conduct training in subjects such as command and control, multi-vehicle collaboration, strategic prioritizing, hose deployment, ladder deployment and accountability.
“Training exercises around these buildings will allow our department to augment the training firefighters receive at fire colleges or through on-the-job experiences.” Says St. Marys Fire Chief Richard “Andy” Anderson. “We are very grateful to the owner of this property to allow us to use this area for this important training.”
The training is planned to take place on Wednesday evening but will be weather dependent. Those in the area of 433 Widder St. East can expect to see fire vehicles and firefighter activity in the area. The St. Marys Fire Department will make every attempt to minimize traffic disruption on Widder Street East during training exercises.
