St. Marys Fire Department transferring 911 dispatching to Owen Sound

The St. Marys Fire Department along with fire departments in North Perth, Perth East, and West Perth will be transferring their emergency dispatching services from the Stratford Fire Department to the Owen Sound Emergency Communications Centre beginning January 5, 2022.

This change will allow communications during an emergency to be more streamlined as well as more detailed and accurate reports of emergency calls to be documented and maintained.

“While the St. Marys Fire Department is transferring emergency dispatching, it is of the utmost importance that we make this process as seamless as possible for our citizens and business owners.” says Fire Chief Richard “Andy” Anderson. “Simply those who have alarm companies that monitor their homes or businesses should notify those companies of the change. This way in the event of an activated alarm the alarm companies will contact the proper fire department to obtain an emergency-dispatch phone number.”
