UPDATE: Pool passes should be returned to the Library by card holders/library patrons.
With summer officially started, the St. Marys Public Library wishes to remind members that they can check-out a free pool pass redeemable at either the Aquatics Centre or Quarry.
The Aquatics Pass is valid for one use during a loan period of seven days and can be used for individual or family admission. After checking out the pass at the Library, patrons present it to either Guest Services to access the Aquatics Centre or the Canteen Attendant to enter the Quarry. Once presented, the pass is considered used and should be returned by the patron to the Library. In addition to public swimming, the pass can be used to access programs such as water running, lane swimming and Aquafit.
No holds or renewals will be allowed; however the pass can be checked-out multiple times, so long as it is available in the library.
The Aquatics Pass arose as a joint initiative between the St. Marys Public Library and Town of St. Marys Recreation Department.
“This initiative aligns perfectly with the Library’s strategic goals of developing innovative partnerships and keeping up with modern trends,” Library CEO Matthew Corbett says, “Today’s library catalogues include a wide range of free resources from books to digital files to recreational opportunities. We already allow the public to borrow a fishing pole and tackle through our Tackleshare program. We have two great pools in town – why not offer cardholders the opportunity to ‘check-out’ an aquatics experience as well?”
Aquatics Supervisor Andrea Slade is equally excited about the opportunity, “The Library Aquatics Pass is a fantastic fit with our Recreation and Leisure Services Master Plan,” she explained, “We’re pleased to offer the community another unique way to enjoy both of our pools.”
