The St. Marys Fire Department is pleased to announce Stuart Taylor as January's “Firefighter of the Month”.

Stuart has been a full-time firefighter with the City of Brantford for 21 years where he currently holds the position of Captain. He joined the St. Marys Fire Department in 2022.

When asked why he was interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter - a step down from his current position - Stuart responded: “I have grown very attached to this community and want to help my fellow residents in times of crisis. I also love the bond that comes from working side by side with other firefighters. I am proud to be a part of this team.”

Off duty, Stuart dedicates his time to his wife Nichola and their two children Jack and Abbey. He can often be seen downtown walking with his best friends, Jenny, an American bulldog, and Peanut, a Jack Russell.

“Stuart was selected as Firefighter of the Month for his emotional maturity and competitive drive, which led him to complete his Firefighter Initial Training Program very quickly,” said Fire Chief Richard “Andy” Anderson. “Stuart commits fully to the task at hand, whether its training, fundraising, or emergency responses. He’s a great ambassador for the department.”

“Stuart brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and leadership to the department,” said Captain Phil West. “Having someone so capable make us even better equipped to take on challenges.”
