Work on the Town of St. Marys’ first major construction project of 2024 is set to begin on Monday August 12, 2024. The municipality is working with OMEGA Contractors Inc. to reconstruct a continued section of Wellington St. S, spanning from Park St. to St. Maria St. and Victoria St. spanning from Church St. S to Water St. S.

The project is a continuation of the highly successful Wellington St. reconstruction project that spanned from Wellington St. Bridge to Park St. E. completed in 2023 that focused on making the downtown more accessible for individuals with disabilities.

Improvements will include replacing a watermain and copper water services; improving drainage with grading, new storms sewers and catch basins and replacing the asphalt roadway.

The project is expected to last 15 weeks. There will be some service disruptions during that time, including street parking and sidewalk closures, as well as water service interruptions. Access to some residential driveways may be limited at times.

The Town plans to communicate actively and regularly with affected residents throughout the process. Residents are encouraged to follow the Town on Facebook (facebook.com/stmarysontario) and Twitter (twitter.com/townofstmarys) or subscribe to the Town’s website for the latest information (townofstmarys.com/construction). Information will also be provided through the local media for those that don’t use the Internet.
