Equipment, lessons, memberships – the cost of participating in recreation and leisure programs quickly adds up, especially for large families or those already facing economic hardships.

The Town of St. Marys wants to reduce financial barriers to accessing recreation, leisure, arts, and culture activities. Through the Access to Recreation Grant, individuals and families can apply to receive up to $100 per person per year towards municipal programs or activities run by external organizations.

Applicants must:

  • Reside in the Town of St. Marys
  • Be aged eighteen or older (legal guardians can apply on behalf of children)
  • Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada or refugees
  • Provide proof of income

Town of St. Marys residents who receive Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) benefits or Canada Pension Plan Disability (CPP-D) payments automatically qualify for the Access to Recreation Grant, subject to verification.

You may also apply in person at the Municipal Operations Centre (408 James Street South) Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. In addition to income statements, please bring identification and proof of residency. COVID-19 health and safety precautions are in effect for all in person visits.
