Program is focused on supporting Community and Social Wellbeing

The Town of St. Marys has officially launched Stonetown Supports, the program focuses on connecting social service resources to those in need and helping others feel safe and educated about the mental health and wellbeing issues in the community.

Stonetown Supports includes a comprehensive list of social supports available to St. Marys residents, educational items and frequently asked questions. These can be accessed at Stonetown Supports webpage.

“Mental health has always been a growing concern.” Says Mayor Al Strathdee. “Its prevalence has become more obvious in St. Marys since the start of the pandemic. We hope Stonetown Supports provides assistance to those in need not only now, but in the future after the pandemic has passed.”

Resources included in the program were developed based on comprehensive research, working with community partners and the continuous review of emerging issues and trends. Priorities include access to Social Services, Health Care Services, overall community security and safety, food security and access to recreational activity options.

Anyone looking for assistance with any of the following, are encouraged to visit the town’s website for more information:

  • Developmental Services
  • Financial Security
  • Food Security
  • Housing Security
  • Health Services
  • Mental Health and Addiction
  • Recreation
  • Security and Safety
  • Senior Supports
  • Transportation
  • Youth and Children’s Services

“St. Marys is already such a supportive community. “ Says Cody Cunningham, the Community Developer and Support Worker for St. Marys. “And there is always room for improvement. This program not only aims to connect those in need directly with social supports, but also to educate the general community on how they can help our more vulnerable residents.”

Included in the program is an online form for residents to offer additional suggestions and resources that they feel are needed in St. Marys.
