COVID-19 has changed the way that many facilities operate – and the Pyramid Recreation Centre (PRC) is no exception. With St. Marys remaining in the Orange – Restrict Level of the Province’s Framework for Keeping Ontario Safe Open, the Town is providing an update to explain how current public health measures are being managed at the PRC.
Facility-wide measures
While in Orange – Restrict, there are specific limits on how many people can be in each part of the PRC at one time. To help manage capacity, the building is closed to drop-in visitors. Only those registered in a program/league are allowed into the facility; one parent/caregiver is permitted per child for arena-based activities. Aquafit and other fitness-based programs are limited to 10 participants.
All visitors to the PRC must complete a COVID-19 screening form. Masks must be worn by everyone using the common areas of the PRC, but do not have to be worn on the ice or in the pool. Masks are required at the Friendship Centre unless participating in a fitness program. Patrons should practice physical distancing in common areas and wash their hands/use hand sanitizer frequently.
The Town is not accepting any external ice, pool, community centre or other PRC room rentals at this time. Program and activity registrations are also being limited to residents of Huron-Perth and regular facility users. All other individuals and teams from outside the Huron Perth region are not currently permitted to use the PRC.
Arena
Both ice pads are currently operational. Most prime time ice has been allocated to minor sports leagues, but there may be some ice available for other users. Those interested in booking any remaining ice time are encouraged to contact the PRC at 519-284-2160. There is no shoulder or ticket ice available at this time.
In addition to the facility-wide measures noted above, those visiting the arena should note the following protocols:
Aquatics Centre
The Aquatics Centre is currently open for pre-registered programs only. Huron-Perth residents and regular users can register online (www.townofstmarys.com/registeronline) or by calling 519-284-2160.
