Town shares service changes for operating under Provincewide Emergency Brake

Effective Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 12:01 a.m., the Town of St. Marys will be operating under the Provincewide Emergency Brake. The following outlines changes and additional public health measures for Town services and programs.

Municipal Operations Centre and Town Hall
The Municipal Operations Centre and Town Hall remain closed for drop-ins. Pre-arranged appointments and drop-box services are still be available. Please call 519-284-2340 to book.  Anyone entering any Town facility must complete a COVID-19 screening form before entering.

Pyramid Recreation Centre (PRC)
Starting tomorrow, April 2, the ice pad will be closed for the duration of the lockdown, and ice programming after the lockdown will be determined at a later date. Any registrants of affected programs will be contacted by their respective association.

Aquatics Centre
The pool will be closed. Anyone who is registered for programs that are affected will be contacted directly. 

Youth Centre
In-person activities for the Youth Centre will remain closed. Youth-based virtual programming will continue.

Friendship Centre
The Friendship Centre will remain closed for in-person programming, but will continue to offer health services such as Footcare and Blood Pressure Screening, as well as virtual and telephone programs. Any in-person and outdoor programs planned for April are cancelled.  Community Wellness Programs such as meal delivery, social connection calls and shopping support will continue. Those coming to the PRC for Friendship Centre health service programs must use the Friendship Centre entrance.

St. Marys Public Library
The Library will be open with limited access to the collection.  Due to screening requirements, please use the Queen St. entrance only.  Staff will assist with helping patrons find materials and access to computers and photocopiers will continue.  Patrons can also come in to pick up their holds.  Home delivery is also available.  The Library will continue to offer curbside pick-up and the book chute on Queen St. remains open for returns.  A seven-day quarantine remains in place for returned materials.  The Library will remain fine free while still under COVID-19 restrictions.  Visit the website for regular hours of operation. 

Adult Learning Programs
In-person Adult Learning programs will be cancelled until further notice. Virtual learning opportunities are still available. Please contact 519-374-8232 or email alearning@town.stmarys.on.ca for more information.

Playgrounds
All municipal playgrounds will remain open on a “use at your own risk” basis. Residents are reminded to avoid using playgrounds if they are feeling sick, to wash their hands before and after use, and to practice physical distancing while at our playgrounds.

St. Marys Museum
In-person research appointments are cancelled until further notice. Virtual programs and distance research services will continue. Please contact 519-284-3556 or email museum@town.stmarys.on.ca for more information.

St. Marys VIA Rail Station/Gallery
The St. Marys VIA Rail station will be open for VIA patrons. Hours are Monday to Sunday 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., and 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Station Gallery is closed.

Landfill
The landfill will be closed Friday, April 2 and Saturday April 3 for Easter Weekend, then resume regular hours of operation on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Payments must be made through debit or credit cards as cash will not be accepted.

Yard Waste Depot/ Household Hazardous Waste Event
Yard Waste Depot(s) will remain open for regular hours. The scheduled MHSW Event for April 10 will remain as scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Municipal Operations Centre at 408 James Street South. Please keep an eye on the Town’s social media for any changes to this event, if necessary.
