The Town of St. Marys Official Plan is the Town's senior planning document and speaks to the planning policies for the Town including goals and general principles; land use designations and the objectives and policies for each; the division of land; transportation and services; and community improvement. The current Official Plan came into effect on October 9, 2024.
Ontario's Planning Act requires municipalities to conduct an Official Plan review every five years to ensure it conforms with or does not conflict with provincial plans, has regard to matters of provincial interest and is consistent with provincial policy statements.
The Town of St. Marys has completed a review and update of the Official Plan in accordance with these Planning Act requirements and to support new strategic goals and community priorities with respect to growth and development. It was passed by Council on April, 2022 and approved by Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMHA) on October 9, 2024. This document came into force and effect on October 9, 2024.
